Wind Turbines

A rugged, long life wind turbine with large blades so you get the best yield out of your machine. Grid friendly or standalone packages available. These turbines come with a proprietary self supported, center pivoting tower meaning it fits in a container, you can put it up without a crane and you can easily service the turbine if need be.

The most important factor affecting your wind turbine yields/returns is the wind speed. And so the size of the turbine blades (swept area). We have gone for larger blades to capture as much of the free energy available and getting the most out of the alternator and equipment you are investing in.

The other two significant factors in the success of your wind turbine investment are the life of the turbine and the costs of servicing it throughout its life. We have take these factors very seriously to bring you a rugged, long lasting turbine which you can easily maintain with fast and supportive local help if you need it. We back this up with a five year warranty but we expect you to run the numbers on a useful life of 25 years.

To maximise your potential benefits, we've incorporated a programmable control system to minimize turbine stress and divert energy to the right places such as your heating and pumping circuits when the wind blows or when power is cheap during the night.

We will quote you on the turbine & tower, power electronics and installation separately to match your ideal set up. If we think you'd be better off with different equipment all together, we have plenty of contacts for you to look into.

Instrumentation

Looking to justify your investment in wind energy as far as wind yield is concerned ?

First - are the trees flagging/bent over on your site? If so, then you very likely do have enough wind to justify a wind turbine, assuming the air is free of turbulence and the site is within a few hundred meters of your meter board or transformer.

Still not sure? send us your New Zealand site details and we will provide you with a rough estimate based on wind models and likely yields for the wind turbine(s) you are looking at.

Want to take a closer look at the conditions on your site? Consider one of our wind testing kits - we send you a pre-configured wind tester (anemometer and data logger) which you can put up on one of our towers or your own. Send it back to us at the end of the trial and we can run the numbers for you. $660 for the gear and your results (excluding tower and freight). If you buy a weather station from another source - make sure it is accurate enough or you will be wasting your time.
